Beauty & the Beast is an American television series very loosely inspired by the 1987 CBS series of the same name. The series premiered on October 11, 2012.^[1] On November 9, 2012, The CW ordered a full 22-episode season of the series.^[2][3]

On April 26, 2013, The CW renewed the series for a full 22-episode second season.^[4][5] The show will move to Mondays for its second season having been paired with Hart of Dixie.^[6] The show's second season premiered on October 7, 2013.
